Volumetric Weight (DIM Weight) Calculator
Calculate the weight your carrier will actually bill for. Supports 6 major Ukrainian and international carriers.
What is volumetric (DIM) weight?
Carriers charge for the greater of two values: actual weight or volumetric (DIM) weight. DIM weight is calculated from package dimensions: L × W × H ÷ K, where K is the carrier divisor. If you ship a light but bulky package — you pay for the dimensional weight.

The calculator shows billable weight. The actual shipping cost is set by the carrier according to their tariff (depends on route, service type, add-ons).
Carrier formulas (DIM divisors)
| Carrier | Divisor | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Nova Poshta | 4000 | UA · domestic |
| Ukrposhta | 6000 | UA · domestic |
| SAT | 5000 | UA · domestic |

Tired of measuring every parcel manually?
AutoScan — Gerkon's DWS system measures package dimensions and weight in 0.5 seconds, sending data straight to your WMS or ERP. Eliminates billing disputes over DIM weight and speeds up fulfillment 3–5×.

Why does Nova Poshta charge more than others?
NP uses divisor 4000 (vs international standard 5000-6000). That means for the same volume NP calculates higher DIM weight. Example: 30×30×30 cm box — NP 6.75 kg, Ukrposhta 4.5 kg.
How to reduce shipping costs?
1) Pick packaging exactly to product size — every extra cm costs money. 2) Don't use overly thick padding. 3) For heavy items use sturdy but compact boxes. 4) Automate measurements — AutoScan flags "expensive" packages before shipping.
Does the formula differ for international shipments?
Yes. Air shipping (DHL, FedEx, UPS) uses the IATA standard: divisor 5000 in cm. Ocean and ground use 6000 in cm. Ukrainian domestic carriers each have their own divisors.
What if actual weight exceeds DIM weight?
Then the actual weight is billed — no overpayment for volume. Typical for heavy compact items (tools, metal parts, liquids). The calculator automatically shows which weight will be billed.
How does AutoScan help save on shipping?
AutoScan automatically measures dimensions and weight of every package in 0.5 seconds. Data flows to your WMS/ERP — no manual calculation, no errors. If a package turns out "expensive" (high DIM weight) you can repack before shipping. Pays off in 6–12 months at 200+ packages/day.
