If you ship 500+ parcels a day, manual measurement is quietly costing you money. AutoScan is a dimensioning, weighing, and scanning (DWS) system that captures every parcel's length, width, height, and weight in about 2 seconds — and feeds the result straight into your WMS, ERP, or shipping platform.

Built by Gerkon, a Ukrainian metrology manufacturer with 30 years of measurement-equipment experience, AutoScan is designed for fulfillment operations that need carrier-accurate volumetric weight on every shipment, without slowing down the packing line.

Why this matters for billing

DPD, GLS, DHL, FedEx, UPS, Hermes/Evri, Royal Mail, La Poste, PostNord, Bpost, Chronopost — every major carrier bills the greater of actual or dimensional weight (DIM weight). The formula is simple: L × W × H ÷ divisor (5000 for air, 4000 for ground, 6000 for Royal Mail). The leak is invisible: a 1 cm rounding error on every parcel adds up to €15 000–€80 000 a year in carrier overpayments at 1 000 parcels/day. A proper parcel dimensioner closes that leak on day one.

Where AutoScan fits

 • Fulfillment & 3PL — Huboo, Byrd, Bigblue, Salesupply-style operations, in-house e-commerce ops. Cubing for billable-weight reconciliation with both carriers and clients.
 • Marketplace sellers — Amazon FBA, eBay, Etsy, Allegro, bol.com, Otto, Cdiscount. Stops chargebacks for incorrect dimensions and prevents listing penalties.
 • Cross-border & postal hubs — accurate parcel manifests for customs declarations (CN22/CN23), EORI compliance, IOSS/OSS reporting.
 • WMS-driven warehouses — direct integration with SAP EWM, Oracle WMS, Microsoft Dynamics 365 SCM, NetSuite, Manhattan Active, MyWMS via REST API or RS-485.
 • Shipping platforms — out-of-the-box compatibility with ShipStation, EasyPost, Sendcloud, Shippo, ShipBob, Shippie, Logiwa.
 • Manufacturers — finished-goods measurement on the packaging line with auto-export to ERP for shipping documentation.

How it actually works

The operator places a parcel on the stainless steel weighing platform. Three independent laser rangefinders capture X, Y, and Z dimensions while certified load cells read the weight — all simultaneously. Results appear on a 5-inch color touchscreen with full operating UI: dimensions, actual weight, calculated volumetric weight per carrier, barcode if scanned. The whole cycle is roughly 2 seconds.

Two operating modes ship as standard:

 • Manual mode — operator places the parcel and presses one button. Best for mixed-throughput stations.
 • Automatic mode — measurement triggers as soon as a new parcel is placed on the platform. Best for high-volume packing lines.

Real-world accuracy

Measurement precision depends on the parcel surface — and we publish honest numbers:

 • Matte surfaces (cardboard, kraft paper): ±1 mm
 • Glossy surfaces (lacquered cartons, taped seams): ±2 mm
 • Weight: ±2–5 g resolution depending on capacity range
 • Min measurable side: 30 mm — handles small e-commerce SKUs (cosmetics, jewelry, pharma)

Three models for different throughput

 • AutoScan AS-50 — parcels up to 500 × 500 × 500 mm, 20 kg. Apparel, cosmetics, electronics, small parcels.
 • AutoScan AS-80 — parcels up to 800 × 800 × 800 mm, 50 kg. Universal model — most-ordered SKU for 3PL and fulfillment.
 • AutoScan AS-120 — oversized: above 800 mm. Freight forwarders, pallet-edge shipments, B2B distribution.

If your parcels exceed 800 mm or you need a non-standard capacity, we manufacture custom sizes to specification. Typical lead time is 4–6 weeks.

Connectivity that works with what you have

Five interfaces are wired in by default: Bluetooth, USB, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, RS-485. A measurement event can leave AutoScan as JSON over HTTP to your endpoint, or be picked up directly from the local SQLite database (last 1 000 records buffered if your network drops). For legacy ERPs we expose a serial COM port — read it like a barcode scanner.

Optional add-ons:

 • Barcode/QR scanner (compatible models on request)
 • Built-in 9 Ah Li-Ion battery — up to 12 hours of fully autonomous operation, auto-charges from 220V mains. Critical if your facility has unstable power.
 • GSM modem — for sites without Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet

Frequently Asked Questions

What is dimensional weight (DIM weight) and how do carriers calculate it?
Dimensional weight, also called volumetric weight or DIM weight, is a billing weight calculated from a parcel's volume rather than its actual mass. Carriers use the formula L × W × H ÷ divisor — typically 5000 (air freight, FedEx, UPS, DHL international) or 4000 (ground). The carrier bills the greater of actual and dimensional weight. AutoScan captures all three dimensions plus weight automatically in one step, so you bill clients accurately and never overpay carriers.
Which AutoScan model — AS-50, AS-80, or AS-120?
AS-50 — for parcels up to 500×500×500 mm and 20 kg. AS-80 — versatile model up to 800×800×800 mm and 50 kg. AS-120 — for oversized parcels over 800 mm. Custom sizes are manufactured to order.
What types of packaging can AutoScan measure?
By default AutoScan measures rectangular packaging: the box is placed with one corner at the table's coordinate origin, and three laser rangefinders read length, width, and height with ±2 mm accuracy. For non-rectangular items (cylinders, soft bags, irregular shapes) we offer a set of special adapters that solve this task. Adapters are provided free of charge with the device upon customer request.
How to integrate AutoScan with 1C or e-commerce CMS?
AutoScan transmits data via USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet (RS-485). Our software writes to a database (MySQL/SQLite) or POSTs to your server over HTTP. Data can be pulled directly from the DB or via API by 1C, ERP, or e-commerce systems.
Can AutoScan operate without 220V mains power?
Yes, an optional built-in 9 Ah Li-Ion battery provides up to 12 hours of autonomous operation. The battery charges automatically when connected to 220V mains.
What does the "mobile table" option provide?
The mobile table lets you move AutoScan freely around the warehouse — on wheels, no cables. Combined with the built-in battery, the device runs autonomously for up to 12 hours, while data is transmitted to your server or ERP via Wi-Fi. Ideal for large warehouses where measurement is more convenient near receiving or shipping zones rather than at a fixed workstation.
What is the measurement accuracy?
Dimensional accuracy: ±1 mm for matte parcel surfaces, ±2 mm for glossy. Weighing accuracy: 2-5 g.
Which barcode scanners are compatible with AutoScan?
AutoScan works only with wired barcode scanners from the approved compatibility list (listed in the user manual). Wireless scanners are not supported. A compatible scanner can be purchased optionally with the device — we will select the right model for your use case.
Can AutoScan be made in a custom size?
Yes, we manufacture custom-sized devices on order per customer specifications for parcels larger than 800×800×800 mm. Custom software for integration with your system is also available. Pricing is calculated individually.
Does AutoScan support international carriers like FedEx, UPS, DHL, USPS, Royal Mail?
Yes. AutoScan supports volumetric weight divisors for all major international carriers: 5000 (FedEx Air, UPS Air, DHL Express, TNT), 4000 (ground services), 6000 (Royal Mail), plus custom carrier-specific contracts. Each shipment record can output the billable weight per carrier in a single measurement.
What is a DWS system and how does it differ from a regular scale?
DWS stands for Dimensioning, Weighing & Scanning — an integrated system capturing 3D dimensions, weight, and optionally barcode in a single workflow step. A regular scale gives you only mass, but carriers bill the greater of actual or dimensional weight. A proper DWS system pays for itself in 6–12 months on any operation shipping over 500 parcels per day.
What is the typical ROI of AutoScan deployment?
Customer benchmarks: 6–12 months payback for operations shipping 500+ parcels/day. ROI sources: (1) elimination of carrier overcharge billing — typically 1–3% of total logistics spend, (2) packing-station throughput +30–50% from removing manual measurement, (3) reduction of customer disputes from incorrect ship dimensions, (4) auditable measurement trail for billing reconciliation. Request our ROI worksheet — we'll model your specific volume.
Does AutoScan help avoid marketplace penalties for incorrect dimensions?
Yes. Marketplaces like Amazon FBA, eBay Managed Delivery, Etsy, and Walmart penalize sellers for incorrect dimensions ($1–$15 per unit, up to listing suspension). AutoScan provides ±2 mm measured dimensions with audit logs for every shipment — both as evidence to dispute penalties and to prevent them upfront.
Can AutoScan be shipped to Kazakhstan, Moldova, EU, UK?
Yes. We ship to Kazakhstan, Moldova, Georgia, Baltic states, EU and UK on EXW/FCA/DAP terms. Documentation in English, Ukrainian, Russian. Remote support via secure connection. Spare parts ship within 48 hours from Ukraine. Contracts in English or local language, invoices compliant with destination jurisdiction.

SHIPPING INFORMATION FOR UKRAINE

Our company is committed to fast shipping and delivery throughout Ukraine. We work with carriers that offer the best balance of price and quality, including:

NOVA POSHTA

1-3 days. Delivery speed depends on your location. After placing your order and payment, we ship the same day or the next.

SAT

Delivery time 3-5 days. Speed depends on the distance between sender and recipient. This is the most economical option compared to Nova Poshta.

DELIVERY

Shipping takes 4-7 days. This is the slowest method, but its advantage is the low cost.

FREIGHT POOLING

Shipping is done via shared transport through a dispatcher. Finding a vehicle takes 1-2 days; speed depends on the destination (major cities are faster, remote villages slower). This method is cheaper than the carriers listed above.

We work throughout Ukraine, and on request can arrange delivery via another courier service not on our list.

After placing your order in our online store, please provide the following information for delivery to your region:

 • Recipient's full name
 • City or town
 • Number of the nearest warehouse (if shipping via courier services)

NOTES:

 • The seller is not responsible for the operation of postal / courier services.
 • Shipments are insured for full value; in case of damage the carrier is obligated to compensate you in full.
 • Shipping costs are paid by the buyer (or by mutual agreement).
 • If the requested product cannot be supplied, an equivalent replacement will be offered upon your approval.

If you couldn't find an answer to your question in this section, please contact us for more detailed information.

PAYMENT METHODS

After placing an order for a selected product in our store, we verify stock availability and confirm with you. Payment can then be made using one of the following methods:

 • Bank transfer to the company account (VAT included).
 • Cash on delivery (payment upon receipt).

Before paying via bank transfer, please contact us to confirm product availability.

Cash on delivery is processed at the carrier's warehouse. The service fee is 2% of the total + 15 UAH for payment processing. For an order of 1000 UAH you will pay 35 UAH for this service plus the shipping cost.

The second method is more reliable as you can inspect the goods on the spot, but it is also more expensive, so before paying you may want to consider which method suits you best.

If payment is received by 12:00, we ship the same day; if payment arrives later, shipping is processed the next day.
