UPD-1 cloud-connected ATG console by Gerkon — a compact, IoT-ready forecourt controller for tank inventory monitoring, RFID driver authentication and unmanned-station fleet management. Connects to the Gerkon SYW-A magnetostrictive probe (and most third-party Modbus ATG probes), uploads real-time inventory data to the azs.gerkon.com cloud cabinet, and provides cardless fueling authorisation via contactless RFID for fleet drivers.
Cloud-connected ATG console for modern forecourts
UPD-1 sits between the in-tank ATG probes and the cloud, replacing the role of legacy desktop consoles like Veeder-Root TLS-350 / TLS-450PLUS or Franklin EVO 200 — but at a fraction of the price and with no need for site-server hardware. All data is stored in the Gerkon cloud cabinet, accessible from any browser. The unit is suitable for unmanned/remote stations, small fleet depots, marina fuel docks and any site where running a full POS console is overkill.
Capabilities
- Multi-tank monitoring — up to 4 ATG probes connected via RS-485 Modbus RTU bus
- Multi-protocol probe support — Gerkon SYW-A native, plus Veeder-Root MAG Plus, OPW 924B, Franklin Digital Inventory Probe (DIP) via Modbus protocol module
- RFID driver authentication — MIFARE Classic 13.56 MHz contactless cards, up to 1000 driver profiles stored locally
- Per-driver and per-vehicle limits — daily / weekly / job-code allocation
- Real-time inventory dashboard — fuel level, water bottom, product temperature, leak alarm, low-level warnings
- Wetstock reconciliation reports — daily auto-export to email, CSV / Excel / SAP-compatible formats
- Pulse output — 100 pulses/litre, configurable, for direct integration with third-party fleet management (Fueltek, Triscan)
- Local interface — 4-line LCD + 4-button keypad for on-site diagnostics; primary UI is the cloud cabinet
Connectivity
- Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n — 2.4 GHz, WPA2-PSK / WPA2-Enterprise authentication
- Ethernet — 10/100 Mbit RJ-45 (recommended primary connection for forecourt-grade reliability)
- 4G/LTE option — built-in modem with EU-licensed bands (B1/B3/B7/B8/B20/B28); SIM card slot
- RS-485 — Modbus RTU master to ATG probes, optional second port for slave-mode integration with site SCADA
- MQTT support — direct publish to AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub or other enterprise IoT platforms (custom firmware option)
- Local data buffer — 30 days of transactions stored locally if cloud connection drops, auto-resync on reconnect
Compatible probes
UPD-1 supports any magnetostrictive ATG probe with Modbus RTU output. Native support and pre-configured templates are available for:
- Gerkon SYW-A (recommended pairing — full feature set including leak detection)
- Veeder-Root MAG Plus, MAG-D Density
- OPW 924B Magnetostrictive
- Franklin Fueling Systems Digital Inventory Probe (DIP)
- Dover ProGauge / DMP Flex Probe
- INCON TS-LL3
For probes with proprietary protocols (some legacy Wayne/Tokheim units), a custom protocol module can be supplied — typical lead time 3 weeks.
RFID driver authentication and fleet accounting
Each driver carries a MIFARE Classic contactless card (Gerkon supplies blank cards or pre-printed branded cards on request). Tap the card to authorise fueling; the transaction is logged with driver ID, vehicle ID (configurable per card), volume, fuel grade, position, timestamp and optional job/PO code. Per-driver daily and weekly volume limits are enforced locally — over-limit attempts are blocked at the controller without cloud round-trip, ensuring operation continues even if internet is down.
Cloud cabinet — real-time inventory and reconciliation
The azs.gerkon.com cabinet is a multilingual web interface (EN/UA/RU) accessible from any browser without local install. Standard dashboards include: real-time tank levels with capacity bars, transaction log with search/filter, daily wetstock reconciliation (deliveries vs sales vs ATG-measured stock), leak alarm history, driver consumption ranking, vehicle fuel efficiency tracking. All reports export to CSV/Excel/PDF; SAP-compatible export available on request.

Frequently asked questions
Can UPD-1 work without internet connection?
Yes — all transactions are processed locally and stored in a 30-day buffer. Driver authentication, limit enforcement and inventory measurement continue normally. When internet returns, buffered data uploads to the cloud automatically. Only the remote dashboard view is unavailable during offline periods.
Is the cloud cabinet free to use?
The cabinet is included with the UPD-1 purchase for the lifetime of the device — no monthly subscription. Customers with multiple sites or extended retention requirements (over 5 years of historical data) can opt into a paid enterprise tier with SLA-backed uptime, MQTT relay to private IoT platforms and on-premise mirror.
Does it integrate with our existing forecourt POS?
UPD-1 exposes IFSF LON, Modbus RTU and a custom REST API — covering most EU forecourt POS systems (Wayne SmartLink, Tokheim Profitec, Petrosoft, Fairbanks). For systems we have not yet integrated, our team can usually deliver a custom protocol module within 3–4 weeks at no extra cost for first-time integrations.
How many drivers can be stored in the controller?
Local memory holds 1000 driver profiles (card UID + name + limits). For larger fleets, the cloud cabinet maintains the master driver database and pushes only the active subset to the controller — supporting fleets of 10,000+ drivers with the same hardware.
Is there an Android/iOS app?
The cloud cabinet is a responsive web interface that works on any mobile browser without app install. A dedicated app for fleet managers (push notifications, quick driver enable/disable, on-the-go limit adjustment) is on the roadmap for late 2026.
