LZ tank gauge hatch by Gerkon — a removable, quick-clamp access cover fitted to the top of petroleum storage tanks for routine manual operations: level dipping, sampling, and temperature measurement. Available in three nominal sizes (LZ-80 / LZ-100 / LZ-135) covering the standard EU range from 3″ to 5″, with the LZ-100 (4″ nominal) being the most common — equivalent to the Morrison Bros 305XP and Shand & Jurs 95004 in the US/UK market.
Sizes and flange compatibility
- LZ-80 — 80 mm clear opening (≈ 3″ nominal); for small tanks under 5 m³ or AdBlue/DEF storage
- LZ-100 — 100 mm clear opening (4″ nominal); the EU/US standard size for retail forecourt USTs and small commercial ASTs
- LZ-135 — 135 mm clear opening (≈ 5″ nominal); for large bulk tanks at depots and terminals
All three sizes mount to standard EN 13616-1 boss patterns (DIN flange compatible). Drop-in replacement for legacy hatches is straightforward — bolt circle and seal groove dimensions match common European tank-top fittings. For non-standard tank tops, transition spool pieces are available on request.
Construction
The hatch body is cast from aluminium alloy AlSi7Mg (high-tensile, corrosion-resistant), machined for sealing surface flatness ≤ 0.05 mm. The lid is also cast aluminium, fitted with a hands-free quick-clamp lever — single-action open/close without tools. The seal is fuel-resistant nitrile (NBR) for petrol/diesel; FKM (Viton®) variant available for ethanol blends or strong solvents.
Each hatch includes:
- Cast aluminium body and lid (corrosion-resistant, vandal-proof)

Installation
The hatch mounts directly to a standard EN 13616 boss welded to the tank top. Bolt pattern and seal groove follow the DN80 / DN100 / DN125 PN10 flange standard for direct interchangeability. For installations replacing a legacy hatch (Morrison, OPW, Emco Wheaton), check the existing bolt pattern and contact us if a transition adapter is needed — most US 4″ API patterns are within 2 mm of the EU DN100 standard and bolt directly without modification.

Is the hatch suitable for both above-ground (AST) and underground (UST) tanks?
Yes — the hatch design works in both AST and UST applications. For UST installations, the hatch is fitted at the top of the access manway (above ground level), so the user-facing surface is identical to AST mounting. For UST installations in flooded zones, an additional gas-tight cap is recommended.
Can the LZ hatch be locked?
Yes — the optional padlock hasp adds a stainless steel ring to the lid for a standard padlock. We recommend locking on unmanned sites and depots accessible to public roads to prevent unauthorised dipping or fuel sampling.
What is the difference between a gauge hatch and a thief hatch?
A gauge hatch (LZ) is a simple access cover for manual operations. A thief hatch (US oilfield term) combines gauging access with a pressure/vacuum (P/V) relief valve — used on crude oil tanks where vapour pressure must be relieved. LZ does not include P/V relief; for crude oil applications use a separate P/V valve or contact us for the combined LZ-PV variant.
Is FKM seal really necessary for E85?
NBR (standard) seals are rated for petrol up to E10 (10% ethanol blend, current EU pump standard). For E85 (85% ethanol) or higher biofuel content, FKM (Viton®) seals are required to prevent swelling and leakage. Specify «FKM seal variant» at order time if your application involves E85+ or pure biodiesel.

1-3 days. Delivery speed depends on your location. After placing your order and payment, we ship the same day or the next.
SAT
Delivery time 3-5 days. Speed depends on the distance between sender and recipient. This is the most economical option compared to Nova Poshta.
DELIVERY
Shipping takes 4-7 days. This is the slowest method, but its advantage is the low cost.
FREIGHT POOLING
Shipping is done via shared transport through a dispatcher. Finding a vehicle takes 1-2 days; speed depends on the destination (major cities are faster, remote villages slower). This method is cheaper than the carriers listed above.
We work throughout Ukraine, and on request can arrange delivery via another courier service not on our list.

PAYMENT METHODS
After placing an order for a selected product in our store, we verify stock availability and confirm with you. Payment can then be made using one of the following methods:
- Bank transfer to the company account (VAT included).
- Cash on delivery (payment upon receipt).

Cash on delivery is processed at the carrier's warehouse. The service fee is 2% of the total + 15 UAH for payment processing. For an order of 1000 UAH you will pay 35 UAH for this service plus the shipping cost.
The second method is more reliable as you can inspect the goods on the spot, but it is also more expensive, so before paying you may want to consider which method suits you best.
